I just downloaded the Centos 7.1 from howtoforge and installed in my VMware server. It asked me for a username and password. What is the default username and password. Thanks Yazool
The interface is reachable on the Ip address of the VM. The default is either 192.168.0.100 or 192.168.1.100. You might have to change the IP to match your network in Centos before you can reach ISPConfig. the URL to access ISPConfig is then: https:// YOURIPADDESS:8080
I tried it after checking the Centos VM ip address using the ip a linux command. It did not work, the connection timed out. I can see the small icon of ispconfig on the top of the tab on my chrome browser, but the body of the page says connection timed out. This tells me that ispconfig is installed, but there is something wrong.
Thats most likely an network config issue, I recommend that you use the centos network manager to change the ip and network details to match your local networking enviroment. You might also want to try http as well as https.
It is a network issue. From Centos I can not ping my laptop and from my laptop I can not ping Centos. How can I reach the centos network manager?
See e.g. here on how to configure a network card on centos 7: http://www.tecmint.com/configure-network-interface-in-rhel-centos-7-0/
I tried this already and it did not work. Both my laptop and the Centos VM are on the same subnet yet none of them can ping the other. However, when I am at the Centos command prompt , I can ping any other host on the local LAN or on the public internet. I am tired!
Centos kan be a bit tricky with the network. You should consider to use e.g. the Debian based ISPConfig VM. Debian is the recommended Distribution for ISPConfig anyway and the Debian network interface is easier to configure then the centos one. https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/perfect-server-debian-8-jessie-apache-bind-dovecot-ispconfig-3/
Thank you till. I already did that. I installed Debian instead of Centos then I followed your tutorial for Debian. It worked like magic! Now I have one problem: I deactivate the default user "admin" after creating another user "newuser". I could not reactivate the "admin" user again. I received an error message on the CP Users page saying: Error You dont have the permission to view this record or this record does not exist! Please help me restore the default admin user. The current user name that I am using does not have full permission.
