Why a Raspberry Pi 4 will not connect to one TV over another?

I just got a Raspberry Pi 4 and installed Ubuntu Mate 20.04 on it. The HDMI works on a newer Samsung monitor and a 7+ year old 50" LG LCD 720p TV, but not on a ~3 year old Sceptre 32" 720p TV. I was just wondering why that is, if anybody knows. Thank you

Write "hdmi_drive=1" in the config.txt data, then it will work. I''ve tried all other options, but this is the only one, that's working.
