let's say my domain name is mydomain.com or www.mydomain.com
    my client's domain is client.mydomain.com
Whenever he access his web-site through client.mydomain.com it's opening fine.
But when he accesses www.client.mydomain.com it would not open at all.
So under DNS settings for client.mydomain.com I create CNAME record for www that targets to client.mydomain.com
Now when I open his website through www.client.mydomain.com - it points to my main web-site, which is 'mydomain.com'
Why is this happening? Or did I do something wrong?

When you create the web site client.mydomain.com in ISPConfig, you must also create a Co-domain www.client.mydomain.com.
