    with a few tweaks, you should be able get a RHEL 4 or 5 package run on an Fedora8 box. Have a look at this:

    1. this should get you an idea on how to modify your system to look as if it was a RHEL box

    http://wiki.zimbra.com/index.php?title=Installing_Zimbra_on_Fedora_Core_6_(64_bits_CPUs)

    2. quote

    The Fedora Core 5 binaries will install on FC6 with a few kludges;

    zimbra install.sh script will barf on libstdc++.so.6, so create a link:
    # ln -s /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5

    Also, ldap at least is started via sudo from the setup.pl script, so you will need to edit the sudoers file with visudo to get rid of the requiretty line;
    # Defaults requiretty

    Then the install script should *just work*

    3. use this:

    http://www.howtoforge.com/installing_zimbra_collaboration_suite_on_ubuntu

    it's the best step-by-step howto (just ignore the debian specific parts, but keep the others regarding the configuration of hosts file, dns declaration etc)

    It worked for me for a RHEL4 package on a FC6 box
