I'm new to Linux, and I've run into a problem with keyboard caps lock. When using Linux, I frequently get into a mode where I must have inadvertently hit some key sequence, and a form of caps lock comes on that I cannot turn off. No matter what I do (short of rebooting), I can't get to some of the special characters. For example, I cannot get to the / or \ characters, only the ? or | characters on my keyboard. Obviously, this means I can't do much when I get in this mode. Can anyone tell me how to restore my keyboard functionality without having to reboot? Thanks!
Are you using console? I think there is Teletype mode, where only upper case characters are used. Maybe one of the shift keys is stuck? Try pressing both shift keys simultaneously. If this helps, try cleaning the keyboard (may be difficult) or replace keyboard. https://forum.howtoforge.com/thread...or-a-first-time-linux-user.83782/#post-399369
