Just a short update on the "SSL handshake failed Error code 525" issue today. The howtoforge servers were working fine all day and were using a valid edge certificate; it seems CloudFlare messed up an update on their side, which they have now fixed. Also, not all CloudFlare proxy nodes seemed to be affected; there was always some traffic coming through, and I was sometimes able to reach the site through CloudFlare.

Hopefully, CloudFlare has finally fixed it now for all proxy nodes, as...

Today I accidentally discovered that HowtoForge does not open in Kazakhstan. After some checking, it turned out that it was not possible to connect to port 443 on your IPv4 addresses.
This is not unusual; in Kazakhstan websites are often blocked if someone from government organizations does not like something there. Also, random blocking occurs frequently due to blocking by IP address (and not using DPI to block by domain through the SNI header).

The one or other user might have already read this news but RedHat (IBM) will transition CentOS 8 by 2021 into a "Stream" rolling-release like version for their RHEL product. This means that CentOS 8 won't get anymore 10 years of LTS support for free while the support cycle for CentOS 7 remains untouched until its end-of-life in 2024.

The development cycle will look by 2021 like that:
Fedora -> CentOS Stream -> RHEL LTS
